Lecture 2

From the lecture, I have learnt that reflective writing is an exploration/examination of ourselves and our actions. Burton and Gibbs(1988) have different methods of reflective writing, however both of them have got the similar idea. Burton focuses on identifying what happened then looking at why it happened, then what can be done for next time and what are the consequences of the identified. This is useful for my assignment as it is useful for the way I analyse the business because it has a section on 'how to analyse the business case '. During the seminar, most formulas in this seminar was easy for me to use as I am familiar with the formulas due to me using it previously in excel. However, I was unfamiliar with the formula for count. Also for the accommodation exercise, I forgot to multiply it by per person. So I learnt I have to be more careful when I'm reading the questions. Alongside, I am able to use excel more usefully as I have learnt the formula for count.

Lecture 1

From lecture 1, I understood that there are three waves of change which consist of the information age; industrial revolution; agriculture and hardwork. This shows how information has become a currency now from the agriculture and hardwork from before. Today, there is a knowledge society where people are able to leverage information and create value. Whereas, before they used to leverage and create value with land, labour and capital. This is as the right information at the right time to the right people is strategically important. The information age consists of 5 meagtrends in IT which are : -Changes in Organisations and Society -Mobile Computing -Social Media -Cloud Computing -Big data & The Internet of Things Overall, I have gathered that the 5 trends above have an impact on the information age that has become a the current currency to create value.
